Police campaign targets drivers
Earlier this month, police forces across Scotland took part in a three-day road safety campaign, co-ordinated by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS).
Although the campaign targeted uninsured drivers, in Orkney, 21 people were charged in relation to seatbelt offences and seven drivers charged in relation to driving while using a mobile phone/hand held device.
One person was also stopped and charged for a speeding offence. Further enquiries revealed there were four outstanding warrants against him.
The campaign ran from Tuesday, April 3, until Friday, April 6.
