Returning officers urges folk to use their vote
The man in charge of today’s council election is urging the Orkney public to use their vote.
Returning Officer Albert Tait said: “The work of the council affects so many aspects of life in Orkney. It’s important that everyone who is registered to vote makes sure they exercise their right to vote and have their say on who they’d like to represent them for the next four years.”
The complete list of polling stations for each of the six wards in Orkney is available on the Council website at www.orkney.gov.uk.
Postal vote packs can also be dropped at the Council Offices in School Place until 5pm on May 3, or until 10pm at any Mainland Orkney polling station.
The count takes place tomorrow, Friday, from 8am at the former Powerbowl building on Great Western Road. It is hoped that the count will be concluded and results for all six wards announced by lunchtime.
