RNLI fundraising cyclists Brian Ratter and Brian Hughes, have successfully taken on the challenge of cycling 800 miles around the Highlands and Islands – visiting 18 lifeboat stations along the way to raise funds for the RNLI – finishing their journey at Kirkwall Lifeboat Station this afternoon, Saturday.

The pair, who left Orkney 12 days ago, along with support vehicle driver Harcus Hutchison, had a large crowd to cheer them back to Kirkwall, on the same day at a major RNLI fundraiser is taking place at Kirkwall Lifeboat Station and in the St Ola Hotel.

During the open day the lifeboat was actually called out on a real call out, to a small fishing vessel, the Ocean Crest, which was aground for a time on Quanterness Skerry, not far from Kirkwall.
