Road accident in Tankerness

A man was taken to hospital this morning following a one vehicle road accident in Tankerness, which resulted in a cement mixer lorry tipping over on to the verge of the road.

Speaking this afternoon, a spokesman for Kirkwall Police said that the driver was taken to hospital following the accident, but his injuries were not life threatening.

The accident happened on an unclassified road in Tankerness, described by police as being not far from the Bossack area.

Police said that drivers are advised to avoid the area until the vehicle is recovered, and the road is reopened.
