Road closed following fatal car crash

Two people have been killed and one person has been seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Kirkwall.

According to police, around 9.45pm on sunday evening a three-vehicle accident occurred on the A965 Kirkwall to Stromness road, near Sunnybank.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene, where two casualties suffered fatal injuries and a third suffered serious injuries.

The road will be closed today, Monday, while police carry out investigations into the accident.

Local diversions are in place through Hatston Industrial Estate.
