Scapa meeting to discuss Showcase Orkney event

Trade body Energy North is calling for businesses interested in the energy industry to share their ideas for a Showcase Orkney event at a meeting on Wednesday.

The two-day event is due to take place on March 31 and April 1, following the success of a similar event held in Shetland last year. Its purpose was to promote local facilities and services and help supply chain businesses build connections with major developers interested in procuring services locally.

At Wednesday’s meeting attendees will be asked for their thoughts on what format the event should take and what its main focus should be in order to attract the most interest from existing and potential developers.

Ian Couper, chief executive of Energy North, said: “Orkney has a wealth of ambitious, skilled and experienced companies working in the energy supply chain coupled with first class facilities and infrastructure. One of our key priorities is to maximise opportunities for local businesses in the rapidly growing global energy sector and we want Showcase Orkney to support this aim.”

The meeting will take place at noonuntil 2pm at the Harbour Authority Building, at Scapa.
