Regional Screen Scotland’s Screen Machine arrives in the county today, Friday, and will tour Orkney’s outer isles over the next week.

The UK’s only mobile cinema service is touring northern Scotland to celebrate 15 years since the 35-tonne articulated lorry first began to travel the roads and byways of the Highlands and Islands.

The Screen Machine will spend the June 14/15 in Sanday; Monday, June 17 in Stronsay; Tuesday, June 18, in Westray; and Wednesday and Thursday, June 19 and 20 in Hoy and will be showing the new Star Trek film Into Darkness, the latest adaptation on The Great Gatsby and animated comedy The Croods.

The screen machine is also offering a special treat to Sanday residents showing two special films shot on the island — Life on the Island of Sanday and Sanday in Focus. These will be shown from 2pm this Saturday.

For more information on screening times, locations and prices either see page 14 of this week’s The Orcadian or visit the Screen machine’s website.
