Sky Notes update – Venus transit of the sun June 5/6

Venus in transit on June 8, 2004, imaged from Rousay. (John Vetterlein)

Transits of Venus occur in pairs about every 100 years.

Full details for this June may be found in The Orcadian Sky Notes.

A reminder that you should not view the sun with unprotected eyes, either with or without optical aid. Only use approved filters or project the sun’s image, as detailed in the Sky Notes column.
