A sustained display of noctilucent clouds
Weather conditions with extensive cloud cover have made it virtually impossible to observe the late night skies for the presence of  noctilucent clouds.
These are generally seen in the northern hemisphere a few weeks around the June summer solstice.
According to John Vetterlein from Rousay, although not quite the most ‘brilliant’display, the effects overnight last night were extensive and persistent.
