Annual hack kicks off week of Stromness festivities
The 70th Stromness Shopping Week kicks off, today, Sunday, with the annual hack due to take place starting at 12.30pm.
This tradition, first seen in 2011, will see horses and riders parade through the streets and outskirts of Stromness.
Meanwhile, the annual Golf Open will be hosted  throughout the day at Stromness Golf Club. Flattie races from the Navigation Pier will also be starting at 2pm.
There will be a service held in the Church of Scotland at 11.15am and an open air service conducted by the Salvation Army and friends at the Pier Head at 7pm (weather permitting).
Tomorrow morning, Monday, will see the official opening parade — where Shopping Week Queen Ara Schofield is due to be crowned.
