Argo’s in running for top baking accolade
Argo’s Bakery of Stromness has made it to the shortlist of the 10th Scottish Baker of the Year Awards.
Scottish Bakers members were asked to put forward ten of their star products to be taste tested by some 55 industry experts, earlier this month. This resulted in nearly 500 products from 57 bakers being sampled by judges.
With prizes on offer for the best scones, loaves, savoury items, morning rolls, individual cakes and biscuits, the ultimate prize is to be crowned Scottish Baker of the Year.
“With nearly 500 products to judge, reaching the shortlist of this competition really is something to be very proud of,” said Alasdair Smith of Scottish Bakers.
“We really do wish all of our shortlisted entrants all the best of luck when the prizes are presented in May.”
The winners will be announced at a glittering Gala dinner at the Hilton in Glasgow on Saturday, May 7.
