Ballast water drop-in sessions
Two drop-in sessions are being held this week to give the public the chance to discuss an updated environmental assessment of a possible change to Orkney Islands Council’s ballast water management policy.
The events are part of a six-week consultation on the Strategic Environmental Assessment, which was made available to the public last month both online and in paper form.
A range of matters – including the detailed scientific information in the assessment and other studies, and the results of the consultation – will be considered by councillors later this year, before they debate whether to implement a change in policy.
The drop-in sessions are at Stromness Community Centre tomorrow, Wednesday, from 2pm until 7pm and at Kirkwall Town Hall on Thursday, from noon until 7pm.
Council staff and representatives of the consultants involved in the environmental assessment will be available at both events.
