Car on roof following accident

A car has ended up on its roof following a serious road accident on the main Kirkwall to Stromness road.

Police say that in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, officers on patrol found a grey Peugeot 207, on its roof, off the north side of the main Kirkwall to Stromness road, about a quarter-mile before Davie’s Brig.

The sole occupant, a 28 year-old man, was transferred to the Balfour Hospital where he is currently being treated.

Enquiries are ongoing in to the circumstances surrounding the accident, added police.
