Coastal rescue crews called to Yesnaby incident
A climber is receiving medical attention after an incident at Yesnaby this Monday morning.
Coastguard crews were called to the cliffs at Yesnaby, this at approximately 11.30am, with members of the ambulance and RNLI also assisting.
A spokesman from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “Coastguard attended an incident in the Yesnaby area. We had Stromness Lifeboat, Stromness Coastal Rescue Team, Kirkwall Coastal Rescue Team and a rescue helicopter — Rescue 900 — from Sumburgh in Shetland attend the scene.
“There was a casualty with an injury who was taken to Kirkwall Airfield by Rescue 900.”
The Coastguard confirmed that crews have now been stood down, with the casualty due to be transferred to hospital.
