Comedian all set for Kirkwall stand-up show

Omid Djalili is appearing at the Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall, tomorrow evening, Sunday.

Actor and comedian Omid Djalili is preparing to make his first appearance in Orkney, at the Pickaquoy Centre, tomorrow, Sunday, February 19.

The British-born Iranian comic and actor’s performances on stage and screen have won him plaudits the world over and he is well known for his roles in Hollywood blockbusters and West End appearances.

He started his career in fringe theatre, moving on to the theatres of Central and Eastern Europe in the early 1990s, and then the alternative comedy circuit.

The team behind the event, TwentyTen, say they are excited to be working to bring such a respected name to the islands.

A spokesman said: “We are delighted to bring such a high class comedian to Orkney for the first time. It is set to be a fantastic night.

“Omid has been selling out his shows the length of the country in the past two months, and receiving great reviews!

“It is a real treat for Orkney to be included in the tour.”
