Council posts filled at special meeting
As well as the appointment of vice-convener being made by OIC councillors this morning, several other key posts have also been filled.
OIC Convener, Councillor Steven Heddle has been selected as the council’s representative on the Board of NHS Orkney, a post previous filled by North Isles councillor Stephen Hagan, who stood down last month due to other commitments.
Councillors also made appointments to the board that will oversee health and social care services in Orkney, the integration joint board. They are councillors Russ Madge, John Richards and Alan Clouston.
Councillor Madge was selected unopposed as chair of the new board.
Three proxy members have also been appointed – councillors Gwenda Shearer, Bill Stout and Janice Annal.
Also at the special meeting of the full council this morning, councillor David Tullock was selected unopposed as chair of the monitoring and audit committee, while Councillor James Stockan was also selected unopposed as chair of the development and infrastructure committee.
Councillor Rob Crichton was also selected unopposed as chair of the planning committee.
