Council website overhaul set to begin

A comprehensive makeover of Orkney Islands Council’s website is about to get underway, says the authority.

The council says that the aim is to modernise the current design, which is more than 10 years old, and ensure the site is easy to access on a wide variety of devices.

The council website offers a wealth of information about the organisation and the services it provides. The new-look for the site is designed to make the user experience simpler, clearer and faster. Its development was shaped with the help of feedback from, among others, the Orkney Opinions public consultation group, students at Orkney College UHI and council staff.

OIC is currently developing new ways for people to do more business with the council online and the site will have a key role to play in this.

Starting this month, the site will be changed page by page until the overhaul is complete. Public access to the website will not be affected while the work is underway.

The site can be found here:  www.orkney.gov.uk
