Deadline to nominate Orkney education stars
People in Orkney are being urged to enter local schools, nurseries or individuals into the Scottish Education Awards 2013 before the deadline for submissions on Friday, February 22.
The awards, which celebrate the achievements of schools and teachers across Scotland, have attracted hundreds of nominations so far but many more schools and individuals are worthy of acknowledgement.
Chairwoman of Orkney Islands Council’s education, leisure and housing committee, Councillor Janice Annal said: “A great deal of very good work goes on in our schools. I am impressed by the quality of the work done by the teachers and other professionals and the superb projects undertaken by pupils in Orkney.
“We would like to encourage local people to nominate their education stars for an accolade at the Scottish Education Awards 2013.”
Nominations are currently being invited from across all 17 categories including Teacher of the Year, Global Citizenship, Literacy and Numeracy across Learning and Sustainable Schools.
