The Doonies continued their dominance in the boys’ ba’, claiming victory in the first game of 2015.

After a 50 minute debate on Harbour Street, 15-year-old Dale Henning from Kirkwall was declared the winner.

Starting at 10am, the first 45 minutes of play took place on Broad Street, with players in the centre of the scrum spending a lot of time on the ground.

However, when the pack was on its feet it was clear that the Doonies had the weight as they edged towards the mouth of Albert Street.

Here, Robbie Scott broke and made it as far as Trenabies, where play briefly halted, before Dale burst from the pack, ba’ in hand.

As he was tackled he managed to pass to Archie Macphail who ran to the Doonie goal.

The ba’ hit the water in the Kirkwall basin after 50 minutes play, the same length of time it took to decide the winner, with the majority of shouts for Dale and Archie.
