Doonie boys win first ba’ of the year
Jack Stout has won the first Ba’ of the year as the Doonie boys claimed their second victory of the festive season.
After the throw up from Ernie Skea, play centered on Broad Street for the first 40 minutes with both sides battling for control.
However, two Doonie breaks — the first from Broad Street to outside the Santander bank on Albert Street, and the second down Mounthoolie Lane — proved decisive as the ba’ hit the water at around 10.55am.
After a 20-minute battle between Aidan Milne and Jack Stout it was Jack that was held aloft with the ba’ in his hands.
The 15-year-old from Kirkwall described it as “the best start to the year”.
