Drink driver sent to jail
A persistent drink driver was sentenced to six months in prison at Kirkwall Sheriff Court this afternoon.
At a trial last month 41-year-old Alan James Craigie, of Toab, was found guilty of driving while over four times the legal alcohol limit on the Kirkwall to St Margaret’s Hope road, on January 27.
Craigie previously admitted a further charge of driving while over the limit — after his licence had been revoked and with no insurance — on Pickaquoy Road, Kirkwall, on May 12.
He also had his car forfeited and was disqualified from holding a driving licence for five years.
