Early views sought on sites for St Peter’s House replacement

A consultation into potential sites for a proposed replacement for St Peter’s House in Stromness launches today, Monday.

The information gathered will be used to prepare a case for a new-build to be considered by Councillors later this year.

Orkney Health and Care is hosting an open day, from noon to 8pm, in the Stromness Town Hall outlining potential sites under consideration.

Orkney Islands Council and Orkney Health and Care are looking for feedback and, at this early stage, would particularly welcome views on six of the sites — Midgarth, Wardhill South, Burnside East, Burnside West, Garson West and Garson East.

Further engagement with the community on building and service design will take place in future years if the project receives final financial approval from councillors.A project to replace St Peter’s House has been considered for the OIC’s building programme evaluation process and has made it to an initial shortlist. The next stage would be for officers to present a more detailed project outline, including a preferred site, to councillors for further consideration.

The consultaiton, available here, runs until Friday, July 18.
