Emergency at Yesnaby after cliff fall

Emergency services headed to Yesnaby this afternoon after reports of a person falling off a cliff.

A Coastguard statement said: “At around 2.25pm today UK Coastguard received multiple calls reporting that a person had fallen from a cliff at Yesnaby.

“Stromness Coastguard Rescue Team, Stromness RNLI Lifeboat and the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Inverness were sent to the scene.”

The statement went on to say that the casualty has been recovered and is receiving medical attention.
