Ferry had to ‘list more than normal’ to avoid boat, confirms Northlink

Northlink Ferries has confirmed that the mv Hrossey had to manoeuvre to avoid an anchored vessel as it approached Hatston Pier last Friday.

A spokesman said: “MV Hrossey approached Hatston Pier in thick fog on Friday, July 3, 2015, and manoeuvred to ensure safe passing distance from an anchored vessel, causing the vessel to list more than normal.

“All the correct procedures for operating in restricted visibility were followed and the vessel was travelling at a safe speed.”
