Finstown speed crackdown revs up amid concern

Action to curb speeding motorists on one of Orkney’s busiest roads is set to be taken, amid a backdrop of concern that it is only a matter of time before a serious accident takes place.

A petition calling for urgent measures to be taken to reduce the speed of traffic in and around Finstown, particularly on the A965 Kirkwall-Stromness road, has prompted Orkney Islands Council to announce that it will introduce what residents hope are just the first steps towards greater road safety.
