Fire crews called to Stromness boat fire
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to a boat on fire at Stromness Harbour early this morning.
A spokesman said that the call was received at 7.29am and when the fire-crews arrived there was a well-established fire in the engine room of the 60ft boat.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used two main jets to tackle the blaze, which they had under control by 8.04am. Crews then dampened the area down and used a thermal imaging camera to check for any signs of fire spread. The last appliance left the scene at 9.36am.
