Firefighters tackle Kirkwall blaze

Firefighters are on the scene at the derelict former Pentland Auto building on Glaitness Road in Kirkwall, which was well ablaze tonight.

A plume of smoke was over an area of the town on what is a very blustery night. The building has been empty for a number of years, and was at one time, the town laundry.

The road is sealed off as fire teams, some wearing breathing apparatus, tackled the fire, and stop it from spreading to any surrounding residential areas.
