Fraud charges dropped against Kirkwall man

Charges have been dropped against a Kirkwall man, who was arrested in October 2020 on suspicion of fraud.

Kevin Groundwater, who was 43 at the time of his arrest, was committed for further examination alongside his wife, Lisa over 12 months ago.

On Wednesday, Lisa Groundwater pleaded guilty to a charge of forming a fraudulent scheme. She now awaits sentence and remains on bail.

In relation to any proceedings against Kevin Groundwater, a spokeswoman from the Crown and Procurator Fiscal Service said: “The Procurator Fiscal received a report concerning a man aged 43 years.

“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, it was decided that there should be no criminal proceedings.”
