Tank relocation under way at fuel deport
Work to move a fuel storage tank, at Scottish Fuels’ Shore Street depot, to allow the construction of a new tank base is under way.
But although the fuel depot, which is owned by Certas Energy, has been the subject of an ongoing campaign by local resident Simon Brogan, Certas has stressed this week that the work is not connected to the campaign but is part of a “proactive planned maintenance programme” which will take around 18 weeks to complete.
The tank was due to be relocated tomorrow, Wednesday, but due to strong winds this has been postponed until next week.
According to Certas, the tank will be lifted, by crane, and repositioned to an alternative location within the depot, where it will remain until the associated ground work is complete.
A company spokesman said: “While the maintenance project progresses, the depot will operate on a business as usual basis, with all customer deliveries fulfilled. There will be no impact on the local infrastructure, or disruption to local residents or businesses.”
