Graemsay water disruption likely to last another week
Scottish Water is continuing work on restoring water supplies to Graemsay, following a confirmed issue with the subsea pipeline that supplies the island from north Hoy.
A team of divers has located a burst on the pipe but, according to company, the repair will be complex and will take a few days.
Thereafter it will take another few days to clean and sample the pipe network to ensure the water quality meets regulatory requirements. It is likely to be around a week before the all-clear is given for the water supply.
Until further notice, Graemsay residents should continue to boil water used for drinking, cleaning teeth, preparing babies feeds/disinfecting feeding equipment, preparing food, pet food and drink and washing open wounds.
Islanders who require further advice, or assistance, should contact Scottish Water’s customer helpline on 0800 0778 778.
