Ideal conditions for the Northern Lights

Keep a lookout for the merry dancers. The sun is at or close to maximum in the solar eleven-year cycle.

According to Rousay astronomer John Vetterlein, displays of the aurora are likely at any time within the next 48 hours, and with the Moon in its last quarter and a clear sky, conditions could not be better.
