Jim Foubister re-elected as OIC vice-convener

East Mainland, South Ronaldsay and Burray councillor Jim Foubister has been re-elected vice-convener of Orkney Islands Council at a special meeting of the full council this morning.

However, there was just one vote in it, with North – Isles Councillor Graham Sinclair also standing for the post. At the end of a vote by councillors, Councillor Foubister won, ten votes to nine.

Councillor Foubister was first elected as vice-convener in May 2012.

The appointment lasts until the next local government elections in May 2017.
