Lifeboat weekend call out
Kirkwall Lifeboat was launched at the weekend at the request of Shetland Coastguard and Police Scotland to help search for a missing person last seen close to the Kirkwall Marina.
The lifeboat crew were alerted just before 2am on Saturday morning. Along with the police and shore based Coastguard teams the lifeboat crew searched out into Weyland Bay area, and around the outside of the harbour.
After searching for an hour, the casualty, who had entered the water earlier, was located ashore safe and well.
The lifeboat returned to station and was ready for service again at 3am.
