Lightning hits power supplies
Power outages were seen across the county last night, Sunday, after lightning caused damage to the electricity network.
Although the majority of the county just saw small dips in power, the areas between Kirkwall and Finstown and on North Ronaldsay saw lasting power outages.
On the Mainland, 540Â customers saw outages after equipment at the top of Wideford hill was struck by lightning. All but 80 customers saw power returned within half an hour, with the rest following slightly later following repairs.
Customers in North Ronaldsay, likewise, saw power restored after a short time following repairs.
