Lightning strikes cause power cuts in Kirkwall

617 Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) customers in Kirkwall are currently without power after lightning strikes in the area tripped a cable circuit.

SSE say their engineers are currently working on the problem and it is estimated that power should be restored sometimes between 1.30pm and 2pm.
