Orkney Islands Council has appointed a new headteacher for Stromness Academy.

After interviews this week, the post has been offered to, and accepted by, Emma Taylor.

Ms Taylor is currently the headteacher at Farr High School, Sutherland, and between 2002 and 2009 worked at Westray Junior High School as languages teacher.

From 2009-2013, she was depute head at Ardnamurchan High School.

A start date has yet to be agreed, but it is hoped Ms Taylor will join Stromness Academy during the summer term.
