One-man show explores depression with humour
A one-man show which has been described as “the funniest show you will see about depression,” is coming to Kirkwall this Sunday evening.
Comedian, Jonny Donahoe will perform Every Brilliant Thing, by Duncan MacMillan, in the St Magnus Centre this Sunday, September 27.
The play follows a boy making a list for his mother, who has just tried to kill herself. He hopes the list will cheer her up; he wants it to keep her alive and make her realise that life really is worth living. As the years flash by and the boy grows up, goes off to university and falls in love, it becomes apparent that maybe the list might even help him save himself.
The play explores depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love, with humour. In addition to this, each performance of Every Brilliant Thing is tailored for that area, making every night unique.
As members of The Touring Network, Orkney Arts Society have been fortunate enough to secure this amazing performance produced by Paines Plough who are an award-winning company, developing exciting new theatre.
Catch Every Brilliant Thing at the St Magnus Centre at 7.30pm on Sunday.
