Orkney highlighted in autumn tourism campaign

Autumnal short breaks and holidays in Orkney are being promoted as part of VisitScotland’s latest seasonal push.

The campaign encourages people to visit Orkney during the autumn and winter under the promotional destination teaser “We’ll point you in the right direction.”

It highlights events for the region, including the Story Telling Festival, Maeshowe Winter Solstice and The Ba’, and is being distributed to 45,000 households.

Orkney’s rich wartime past, the unique landscape at Yesnaby, the islands’ rich wildlife, creative arts and crafts and island hopping – specifically mentioning Sanday, North Ronaldsay and Hoy – are also mentioned in the insert, which is part of VisitScotland’s Surprise Yourself campaign.

A campaign, including a mix of print media, digital advertising and radio, encouraging people to visit Orkney is also underway, with an Orkney prize draw being offered.
