Orkney named best place to live in Scotland
Orkney has retained its title as Best Place to Live in Scotland, ranking highly in this year’s Quality of Life Survey, conducted by Bank of Scotland. It is closely followed by Shetland in second and the Western Isles in third.
The county has also rocketed up the UK-wide table, now ranked in second place behind Winchester, South East England.
Factors that made Orkney stand out in this year’s survey include the county’s low crime rates, high spending on education per individual pupil, and high employment rate.
