PhD student elected to association committee
An Orkney PhD student at the Centre for Nordic Studies has been elected as post-graduate representative to the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment.
Becky Ford, from Sandwick, was elected at the association’s biennial conference, at Cambridge University, where she was presenting her ongoing research on dialogism in the renewable energy community in Stromness.
As postgraduate representative, Mrs Ford will be part of a network of researchers who are interested in the intersection between literature and environmental studies.
Mrs Ford is currently a year and a half into a PhD project called Words and Waves: a dialogical approach to discourse, community, and marine renewables in Orkney.
Her supervisor, Dr Ragnhild Ljosland, said: ‘We, at the Centre for Nordic Studies, are delighted that Becky has been elected to the association – a role which I am sure will be both enjoyable and positive for her further research.”
