Police appeal after Kirkwall break-in
Police are urgently seeking assistance from the public to identify the person(s) responsible for a house break-in at Manse Road, Kirkwall, that occurred between 7.30 pm Saturday 13th and 2.00 am Sunday 14th December.
Anyone who heard or saw anything unusual during this period is asked to contact Kirkwall police station by phoning 101.
Police would also like to identify a man seen in that area around 8 pm that day and who may be able to assist with their enquiries. He is white, around 5′ 9″ tall, of medium build and wearing a white hooded top, a dark woollen hat and jeans. He was carrying a white carrier bag which had a picture, possibly of a festive design on it.
Householders are also being asked to be particularly vigilant and security conscious at this time of year. It is recommended that Christmas presents are kept out of sight and, in particular, not left around the Christmas tree and that doors are kept locked during the night-time or whenever left unoccupied.
If you see or hear anything unusual or suspicious in your neighbourhood notify the police immediately on 101, or use 999 if you believe a crime is imminent or in progress.
