Police confirm Kirkwall searches

Following reports of heightened police activity in Kirkwall on Tuesday, police have confirmed that two drugs raids took place in the town.

Police have however declined to comment at this stage if any arrests were made, or if any drugs were found.

Inspector Gordon Deans said: “As part of an intelligence led operation two drugs search warrants were executed in the Kirkwall area yesterday. Local officers have been supported in the operation by colleagues from the operational support unit from Inverness, police dog handlers and dogs.”

He added: “Our enquiries are ongoing.”
