Police launch Carmichael enquiry

Police Scotland have confirmed that they have launched an investigation into whether Alistair Carmichael committed a crime when he falsely denied knowledge of a leaked Scottish Office memo, which he went on to take responsibility for on Friday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said this morning: “We can confirm that a complaint has been received and enquiries are ongoing to establish whether there is any criminality.”
