Power cuts strike Orkney

Houses in various areas of Orkney, including Burray and Sandwick, have gone dark this Sunday night, due to power cuts.

Engineers are working to resolve the unplanned outages, according to Scottish and Southern Electricy Networks (SSEN).

In Sandwick, where some homes are all reporting the return of their electricity, the estimated fix time by SSEN is 1am. In Burray, it is 1.30am. Some homes in South Ronaldsay may also be affected.

It is also understood that  firefighters have received calls this evening regarding fire on an electricity poll, or polls, in the Burray area.
