Road closure near Kirkwall’s harbour front

A number of traffic changes will come into effect in Kirkwall from tomorrow, Monday, while contractors carry out road works.

Orkney Islands Council has said the entrance to Bridge Street, near the harbour, will be closed from for three weeks while work is undertaken to resurface and pave the entry.

There will be other traffic changes too for the duration:

• The one-way on Laing Street has been switched so entry is now from the King Street Halls end with traffic travelling towards M & Co.
• Drivers will then be able to turn left into Albert Street outside M & Co and continue onto Broad Street.
• The rest of Albert Street, from outside M & Co. towards Bridge Street and all of Bridge Street itself, will be closed to all vehicles apart from delivery vehicles.

Pedestrian access will remain unaffected.
