Sanday set for North Isles Sports
The annual North Isles Sports tournament is due to get under way on Sanday tomorrow.
The popular event will see competitors from Sanday, Westray, Stronsay, Papa Westray and Eday taking to the field in the seniors’ competition.
Running concurrently will be a school-age tournament, which will see youngsters from Stronsay, Sanday and Westray going head-to-head for silverware.
Sports to be contested on the day include athletics, netball, football and the ever-popular tug-of-war competition.
Besides a series of community events and activities, this year’s tournament will also be graced by the presence of Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning gymnast Steve Frew, who will be giving a medal presentation in the afternoon.
Westray were the overall winners of last year’s North Isles Sports contest.
