Sanday’s new heritage centre opens its doors
Sanday’s new heritage centre will open to the public tomorrow afternoon, Sunday.
The centre, in the old Temperance Hall, is now the permanent home for the island’s artefacts, and photographic and sound archives, which will all be available to the public.
Work was completed in February, and since then a group of dedicated volunteers has been responsible for all the interior decoration.
The centre will feature displays on a number of different themes — archaeology, natural history, agriculture, island life — and, in this centenary year, the island’s involvement in the First World War.
