Sign up for Glasgow 2014, says OIC
The application process for volunteering for the 2014 Commonweath Games, in Glasgow, opens on Monday and Orkney Islands Council is encouraging local people to consider giving it a go.
The organising committee is looking for 15,000 volunteers from across the country to assist with the smooth running of the games between July and August 2014.
Hannah Cromarty, the OIC’s community sports officer, said: “During the summer the whole country was glued to the television watching the amazing sporting achievements in London and summer 2014 will be Glasgow’s turn in the spotlight.
“Orkney has a great tradition of sporting excellence, as well as a reputation for hard-working, dependable, friendly, flexible folk. These are all qualities that the organisers are looking for in a games volunteer so I would encourage local people to sign up to take part in a once in a lifetime experience.”
