Slay the dragon at new book launch

To mark the launch of a new book for children, the author will be signing copies in The Orcadian Bookshop today, Saturday.

Sigurd the Dragonslayer, by Ragnhild Ljosland, recounts a real viking legend preserved in saga literature, ancient poetry, medieval ballads and depictions in stone and wood.

The book, published by The Orcadian, combines a story of adventure, cunning and magic with activities, where the reader helps the hero, Sigurd, in his quest to slay a dragon.

Young booklovers attending the launch, between 11am and noon, will be able to have their photographs taken slaying the dragon, Fafnir, with Sigurd’s sword.

• Between 2pm and 3pm today, author Nancy Boynton will be signing copies of her book, Andy from Orkney.
