Sports fixtures fall victim to the weather

Both Orkney’s football and rugby teams have had their weekend fixtures postponed.

Orkney FC were due to take on Halkirk at home tomorrow, but travel problems for the Caithness side means that the game is to be rearranged.

Meanwhile the First XV’s clash against Strathmore, which should have taken place in Forfar tomorrow will also have to be played at a later date. The game had been under threat due to the high likelihood that the pitch would be frozen and with the Kirkwall-Aberdeen boat also being cancelled tonight, it was decided to call the game off.
